Sea Otter Adventure

On Thursday, my first day in Cali, I headed out to ride the cross country course. Only a single lap because only lap was a 19 mile loop. The course was very fast so the 19 miles didn't take as long to cover as most 19 mile cross country courses. It was a fairly flat course with no more then a mile of climbing at a time. On any technical descent it was really sandy so you just had to try to hold a strait line. I did the 19 mile loop in 2 hours, but I was trying to take it really easy so that I wouldn't be to tired for my race.
On Friday, my race started at 2:05 pm. Because I am racing cat 1 17-18 we do 2 laps of the course. For almost the first whole lap I led out the group just threw the single track. That way I could set a pace that everyone had to deal with so that I didn't have anyone trying to push it to hard. Right about half way a few guys attacked and there was a group of six that slipped passed me. I chased in to a group of three with the other two still off the front some where and spent the rest of that lap and half of the second one in. At half way through the last lap two of them dropped off but shortly after it I bonked. Going from 5th to 14th and lost about 20 min off the leader in that five miles going to the finish.
On Saturday, I raced the Jr. 17-18 road race. I was in the main group for three laps then spend the next two laps in a group just five min behind the main pack. I finished in 32nd about and about 14 min off the leader.
