Testing With Inigo

I went Down to Denver to do a lactate threshold and VO2 max test with Inigo SanMillan. The test was very hard and showed very very good things for this racing season. The test started with just a simple ride at 2.5 Watt/kilogram of weight for 5 min. then 3.0 W/Kg for 5 min. then we step it up to 3.5 W/Kg which is about 240 Watts for 10 min. then took it up again to 4.0 W/Kg (about 275 Watts) for 10 min. with the final step being at 4.5 W/Kg (about 295 Watts) for the final 10 min tell I wasn't able to go any more at the end. With these results we can now figure out all my training for the rest of the season so I can be at my peak for Nationals and hopefully Worlds.
Thanks Inigo for the test.

New Belgium Short Track

My second MTB race of the season took place in Fort Collins back yard. It was the New Belgium Brewing Company Short track race. This race series was put together by three people that work together at New Belgium Brewery. Lora Heckman who manages all the race registration and KC McCuiston who does almost all of the course design, put up and take down. Then of course the master behind all of it and my own dad Jason Trujillo who does the management for the whole thing, while also gaining help from all who are willing to support. These three spend hundreds of hours to set up each race series and get none of the profit. All of the money that is made goes strait to a Junior Cycling program that again my dad is helping get off the ground. So a big thanks to all three of them for setting up one of the best and least known about race series in Colorado. There are also many others that make this series possible so I would also like to through a thanks out to all of them as well.

Sea Otter Adventure

On Thursday, my first day in Cali, I headed out to ride the cross country course. Only a single lap because only lap was a 19 mile loop. The course was very fast so the 19 miles didn't take as long to cover as most 19 mile cross country courses. It was a fairly flat course with no more then a mile of climbing at a time. On any technical descent it was really sandy so you just had to try to hold a strait line. I did the 19 mile loop in 2 hours, but I was trying to take it really easy so that I wouldn't be to tired for my race.
On Friday, my race started at 2:05 pm. Because I am racing cat 1 17-18 we do 2 laps of the course. For almost the first whole lap I led out the group just threw the single track. That way I could set a pace that everyone had to deal with so that I didn't have anyone trying to push it to hard. Right about half way a few guys attacked and there was a group of six that slipped passed me. I chased in to a group of three with the other two still off the front some where and spent the rest of that lap and half of the second one in. At half way through the last lap two of them dropped off but shortly after it I bonked. Going from 5th to 14th and lost about 20 min off the leader in that five miles going to the finish.
On Saturday, I raced the Jr. 17-18 road race. I was in the main group for three laps then spend the next two laps in a group just five min behind the main pack. I finished in 32nd about and about 14 min off the leader.

This is Jason (left) some people know him as my dad, and KC (right) at Cyclo-Cross Nationals. They were my amazing pit crew that supplied me with one bike during the race. I was sitting in the lead group of three for most the race. Until Jeff got a flat and had to pit. Then it was just Cody and I till i had a crash and also had to pit. Going into the final lap it was Jeff and I fighting for 2nd with Cody off the front. Jeff got a gap and beat me out for 2nd. I took 3rd behind him.
